Use your Nokia's 3G internet over USB
Connecting to the internet through your Nokia phone is surprisingly easy
So you’ve found your self in a situation where you desperately need to use the internet, but have no wired or wireless networks available. What to do?
Sure you could use a solution like JoikuSpot which allows you to use your phone as a WLAN access point, but the software is proprietary and you have to purchase it. In addition to the financial cost, using the WLAN and the 3G(3rd Generation) at the same time really eats up your battery. Luckily for us there is another solution.
It turns out that using your Nokia phone’s 3G connection is really easy with the latest NetworkManager. I tested this with Ubuntu “Jaunty Jackalope” 9.04, but it should work with any distro that has a recent version of NetworkManager. The phone I used was a Nokia 5800, though I believe that this should work with any S60 phone.
Connect your phone
Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable. When the mode selection dialog pops up, choose PC Suite. If the dialog doesn’t show up, or if you select the wrong mode you can change it from your connections settings

Configure your computer
If you are running an up-to-date version of NetworkManager a dialog should now pop up on your desktop.

If the dialog doesn’t show up, you can try and right click the Networkmanager icon and select the Configure option.

Just click next to choose your country and service provider

Then you can change the name of the connection, if you want to. Click Apply to save the settings.

After the last step you should see the following notification:

Once this is done you can connect to the network by left clicking the NetworkManager icon in your taskbar. Disconnection is handled through the same menu.
