Stop YouTube videos from lagging in Firefox

Change Firefox settings for better performance while watching Flash videos.

While I was watching YouTube videos I realized that it is lagging every 10 seconds. I was first thinking it is because of my connection or my laptop. But then when I used a better laptop than mine and with a faster connection, it was still lagging. Than I thought it might be YouTube it self, but I was wrong again, cause when I connect with Safari, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Opera I don’t have this small but annoying problem. That was when I realized that it was Firefox itself that was causing the problem.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. Firefox has a feature that saves your browser session every 10 000 milliseconds (== 10 seconds). So when Firefox or the computer crashes you can just keep surfing where ever you left off.

Yesterday while I was checking the news, one brilliant guy who posted a solution on Lifehacker

Please follow the steps for a better Firefox performance
Enter the following address in Firefox:

about:config

AboutConfig

Then find the following setting (using the filter is usually the simplest way):

browser.sessionstore.interval

SessionStore

Double click the browser.sessionstore.interval setting to get the following dialog:

Setting change dialog

Increase the time limit to a value of your choice (remember this is in milliseconds, so 2 minutes == 120000 milliseconds).
